About the Practice

The person behind
the pages.

I’m Bitini Pannell — a Licensed Professional Counselor, author, and founder of Inner Life Work. Everything in this space was built from the same conviction: that real healing tools should be accessible to anyone willing to do the work, not only to those who can afford a weekly session.

My Story

This work came from
the same place yours did.

Before Inner Life Work was a brand, it was a question I kept asking in the therapy room: why are the tools that actually help people so hard to access between sessions? Clients would leave with insights, with reframes, with a glimpse of who they could be — and then the week would happen. Anxiety would return. The window of tolerance would narrow. And the next session would start over from a place of depletion rather than momentum.

I built Inner Life Work as an answer to that gap. Not to replace therapy — nothing does — but to extend it. To give people the same frameworks, structures, and reflective tools we use in clinical work, in a format they can return to at 11pm on a Tuesday when everything feels like too much.

My training is in evidence-based approaches — CBT, ACT, polyvagal theory, somatic therapy — but my practice has always been shaped by a belief that healing is not just cognitive. It lives in the body. It moves through ritual. It responds to beauty, to slowing down, to tending something over time. That’s where the apothecary work comes in. That’s where the botanical guides come from. I am interested in the whole person — the nervous system and the garden, the thought record and the herb walk. All of it belongs.

Every product in this shop was made with that in mind: that you deserve tools built with the same rigor and care as the work I do with clients — tools that respect your intelligence, meet your nervous system where it actually is, and trust that you already know how to do this.

Healing is not a performance or a test of discipline. It is an unfolding that requires attention, consistency, and relationship. There is no right pace for this journey.

What I Believe

A few things I hold
as non-negotiable.

After years of clinical work, these aren’t just professional principles. They’re the things I’ve seen make the difference between tools that collect dust and tools that actually change the way someone moves through their life.

They shape every product I create, every prompt I write, and every framework I choose to use or leave behind.

01
The nervous system is not the enemy.

Anxiety, dysregulation, and overwhelm are not character flaws. They are biology. Effective tools work with the nervous system’s architecture — not against it. Everything I create is built on this premise.

02
Evidence matters, but it isn’t the whole picture.

CBT, ACT, and polyvagal theory are rigorously researched and clinically proven. They are also incomplete without a body, a culture, a history, and a relationship. I use what works and stay curious about the rest.

03
Accessibility is a clinical value.

The tools that help most people remain behind a $200/hour paywall. That is not a neutral fact. Creating high-quality, affordable resources is part of my practice, not separate from it.

04
Healing is slow, cyclical, and non-linear.

Progress is not a straight line from suffering to wellness. It circles back. It deepens. It contradicts itself. The tools I design are built for the long arc, not the quick fix.

05
You are the medicine.

The garden, the journal, the worksheet — these are mirrors. They reflect back what is already inside you. My role, in person and on the page, is to help you see it more clearly.

Clinical Specializations

What I work with
and what I build from.

These are the areas where my clinical training is deepest — and where the products in this shop are most directly rooted. Each one has shaped how I think about healing and what I believe people actually need.

Anxiety & Panic
Generalized anxiety, panic disorder, health anxiety, and social anxiety. CBT-based thought work, exposure principles, and nervous system regulation tools designed to loosen anxiety’s grip on daily life.
Trauma & Complex Trauma
Trauma-informed care grounded in somatic awareness and polyvagal principles. Understanding how the body holds history — and how it can, slowly, begin to release it.
Identity & Life Transitions
The disorientation of becoming someone new. ACT-based values clarification and narrative therapy for seasons of change — career shifts, relationship endings, grief, and the quiet crises of self-concept.
Compassion-Focused Healing
For the inner critic that never lets up. Compassion-focused approaches that interrupt the cycle of shame and self-attack — not with toxic positivity, but with the thing that actually works: kindness.
Somatic & Body-Based Work
Regulation tools drawn from somatic experiencing, polyvagal theory, and body-based practices. The body keeps score — and the body can also lead the way toward safety.
Holistic & Botanical Wellness
Where clinical psychology meets plant medicine and ancestral wisdom. Integrating TCM perspectives, herbal protocols, and cyclical living practices with evidence-based frameworks for whole-person care.
Frameworks & Modalities

The clinical foundations
behind every page.

These aren’t buzzwords. Each one is a rigorously researched clinical framework — and each one shows up explicitly in the structure, prompts, and exercises across the Inner Life Work product library.

CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
The gold standard for anxiety treatment. CBT teaches us that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected — and that changing one changes the others. Thought records, cognitive reframing, and behavioral activation are woven throughout the journal and workbook products.
ACT
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
ACT doesn’t ask you to eliminate difficult emotions — it asks you to stop letting them steer. Values clarification, psychological flexibility, and committed action toward a life that matters appear throughout the identity, values, and direction-focused products.
Polyvagal
Polyvagal Theory
Stephen Porges’ framework for understanding how the autonomic nervous system governs safety, connection, and survival responses. The window of tolerance, the nervous system reset worksheets, and all breathwork tools are grounded in polyvagal principles.
Somatic
Somatic Therapy
The body holds what words can’t always access. Somatic approaches track body sensation, movement, and physiological state as direct pathways to regulation and healing. Grounding practices, progressive muscle relaxation, and bilateral stimulation techniques draw from this tradition.
DBT Skills
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
DBT’s distress tolerance and emotional regulation skills offer practical, moment-by-moment tools for surviving hard feelings without making them worse. Distress tolerance, opposite action, and radical acceptance skills are integrated throughout the coping-focused materials.
Narrative
Narrative Therapy
The stories we tell about ourselves shape what we believe is possible. Narrative therapy techniques — separating the person from the problem, re-authoring dominant stories, exploring alternative narratives — are embedded in the identity and transition-focused journals.

Beyond the Clinical

The garden is also
part of the practice.

Inner Life Work is not only a clinical resource library. It is also an exploration of what healing looks like when you extend it beyond the therapy office and into the body, the garden, the kitchen, and the cycles of a life.

My Apothecary Garden series bridges evidence-based psychology with traditional plant medicine, TCM frameworks, and ancestral wellness practices. It asks a question I believe belongs in every honest conversation about healing: what does the body already know, and what have we forgotten how to listen to?

This is not an abandonment of clinical rigor. It is an expansion of it. The vagus nerve and the lemon balm plant are both, in their own ways, teaching the same lesson — that safety is a felt experience, not a cognitive one, and that the path back to it runs through the body.
